RATIONALE
Trichology is a rapidly growing field. The multifactorial etiology of trichological problems encourages the multidisciplinary nature of the sector and, for this reason, the presence of trained and updated healthcare professionals with trichological expertise is necessary. For this reason, the role of the Biologist in the trichological field is fundamental in order to deal with the subject professionally and precisely, both in its analytical part and in consultancy and, where required, as support for medical diagnosis. The Biologist becomes competent in trichology when he or she acquires knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the hair and scalp, and is able to perform trichological examinations and tests using precision instruments such as the microcamera and microscope.
The aim of the course is to provide the Biologist with solid anatomical-functional foundations relating to the structure of the follicle, hair, and skin environment, focusing on the analytical investigation method necessary to discriminate any para-physiological alterations or to support medical diagnosis in case of pathologies. These foundations will be preparatory for analyzing and distinguishing the different types of hair loss and for identifying the main para-physiological conditions relating to the scalp and hair. Therefore, the purpose of the course is to inform the Biologist about the techniques used for analysis with the aid of instruments such as the microcamera and microscope. To this end, the procedure for scalp dermatoscopy analysis and root microscopy will be presented in a summarized manner through dedicated videos.
