Friday October 2nd from 09.00 to 13.30

Dear Colleagues, dear Attendants,
I’m proud to introduce our “Interactive Course in Medical and Surgery treatment of BPO” that will take place in Roma from the 1st to the 2nd of October 2020. The purpose of our virtual Masterclass is updating and improving knowledge and expertise in Medical and Surgical Treatment of Benign Prostatic Obstruction (BPO).  All topics will be presented and discussed by international opinion leaders in this clinical area, that will be available for you for any question and specific deepening in virtual rooms that won’t make you regret, in this difficult period, any meeting in presence.
On behalf of the whole faculty, I look forward to meet you online and share with you knowledge and expertise.

Warmest regards
Ferdinando Fusco

A significant proportion of patients undergoing surgery for BPO, although correctly perfor- med, fail to restore normality. Therefore, the question here is what are the factors behind this failure? BPH/BPO patients cannot be considered as being in an “instant phase” without taking into account the overall disease evolution and correct management in the pre-surgi- cal phase. BPO is a progressive disease, with different progressive steps that can be identi- fied by specific markers (e.g. thickening of the bladder).

Various treatment schedules, which are able to modify the urodynamic parameters, thereby preventing both bladder and renal impairment, will be evaluated during the course and the relevant outcome will be examined. The recent evidence about the key role of benign prostatic obstruction in the genesis of LUTS and the urodynamic effect of medical therapy will also be reviewed and discussed in light of the most recent clinical evidence.

The aim of the course is to provide new insights into the treatment options for BPO, exami- ned in the light of both the best timing and the pathophysiological mechanism of the disease in order to improve the consequences of its natural progression.
The first part of the course will be focused on the innovative surgical techniques for BPO by discussing the pros and cons together with experts in live streaming sessions. At the same time, the reasons why surgery sometimes may fail will be highlighted. In the second part of the course, the recommendations from the guidelines for adequately treating BPH/BPO, together with the pathophysiological mechanisms behind the disease progression, will be emphasized. Finally, the best timing for the optimal treatment will be evaluated and discus- sed.

The Masterclass in BPO is a course for international medical and scientific professionals engaged in the Urology field.
